Actual Da Vinci Code on the eyes of Mona Lisa?

Tiny numbers and letters reminding ‘Da Vinci Code’ were found in the eyes of the Mona Lisa’s painting by art historians, the Daily Mail reported Sunday in its website.

Silvano Vinceti, president of Italy’s National Committee for Cultural Heritage, said the symbols were not visible with the naked eyes, but with a magnifying glass they could clearly be seen, according to the newspaper.

“In the right eye appear to be the letters LV which could well stand for his name Lenardo da Vinci while in the left eye there are also symbols but they are not as defined,” he said.

Vinceti was not sure the letters in the left eye are whether CE or B while in the arch of the bridge in the background the code could be seen 72 or L2. “The picture is almost 500 years old so it is not as sharp and clear as when first painted,” he said.

The model of the 500-year-old Renaissance masterpiece has been controversial until today. The code might be a significant clue to identify whether the real model is the wife of a Florence merchant or Da Vinci himself.

Meanwhile, the clue of the code was discovered from a 50-year-old book about the painting in an antique shop.

모나리자의 눈에 ‘다빈치 코드’가?

모나리자의 눈동자 속에 실제의 ‘다빈치 코드’ 가 발견되었다고 영국 일간지 데일리 메일이 12일 보도했다.

500년 역사의 이 르네상스 최고 명화는 실제 모델의 정체성을 놓고 지금까지도 끊임 없는 논란을 일으켜왔다.

실바노 빈첸티 이탈리아 문화유산위원회 위원장은 모나리자 눈 속의 미세한 글자들이 모델 파악의 실마리가 될 수 있다고 밝혔다.

빈첸티는 “표면상으로는 보이지 않지만, 고해상도의 이미지를 통해 보면 오른쪽 눈동자에 레오나르도 다빈치의 이니셜인 LV가 보인다,”며 “왼쪽 눈동자의 글자는 CE 또는 B가 미세하게 보이나 정확히 식별할 수 없다” 고 밝혔다.

빈첸티는 또한 모나리자 배경에 그려진 아치형 다리에도 ’72’ 또는 ‘L2’로 보이는 글자가 나타났다고 덧붙였다.

한편, 이 단서는 한 골동품상에서 발견한 50년 된 명화책 속에서 찾았다고 전했다.
