Damned phone number leads 3 to death

All the three cellphone holders have been killed, after using the dammed same number, according to foreign news reports.

According to Daily Mail on May 26, the number 0888-888-888 was first used by Mobitel Vladimir Grashnov, CEO of a Bulgarian mobile phone company. He died of cancer at 48 in 2003.

Then, Bulgarian Mafia boss Konstantin Dimitrov took the number. But in 2003, two years after he started using the number, he was gunned down by an assassin, while dining with a beautiful model in Netherlands.

The unlucky number came to businessman Konstantin Dishliev who was also shot dead near an Indian restaurant in Bulgarian capital, Sofia, in 2005 after holding the number for two years as well.

After three users assigned to the number met unfortunate death, Mobitel suspended the use of the number.

Now callers can only hear a recorded message, saying "out of network coverage." "We have no comments to say. We won't discuss individual numbers," a Mobitel spokesman said.

불가리아에서 저주받은 번호를 사용하던 소유주 3명이 10년 사이 모두 사망했다고 25일 영국 매체 데일리메일 등 외신들이 전했다.

불가리아 통신사 모비텔의 전 CEO 블라디미르 그라쉬노브는 저주받은 휴대전화 번호 '0888 888 888'을 사용하던 중 지난 2001년 48세의 젊은 나이에 암으로 사망했다.

상대 경쟁사가 방사능 중독으로 암을 일으켜 죽게 했다는 소문이 돌았다.

이후 이 번호는 불가리아 마피아 두목인 콘스탄틴 디미트로브에게 넘어갔다. 그가 이 번호를 사용하기 시작한지 2년 후인 지난 2003년, 네덜란드 여행 중이던 그는 미모의 모델과 외식을 하다가 암살자의 총에 맞아 사망했다. 당시 그의 나이는 겨우 31세였다.

이 불운의 휴대전화 번호는 다시 부동산 사업가인 콘스탄틴 디쉬리브에게 옮겨갔고 그 역시 이 번호를 사용하기 시작한지 2년 후인 지난 2005년 불가리아 수도 소피아 지역의 인도식 레스토랑 밖에서 총에 맞아 세상을 떠났다. 그는 비밀리에 마약을 대량 유통시키는 일을 해온 것으로 뒤늦게 확인됐다.

10년 사이 이 번호를 사용하던 소유주 3명이 모두 그렇게 세상을 떠나버리고 이 번호는 사용이 정지된 것으로 알려졌다. 외신들은 이 번호로 전화를 걸면 '통화지역 밖에 있다'는 메시지가 나온다고 전했다.

모비텔 대변인은 이 번호에 대해 답변을 거부하며 "우리는 개인번호에 대해서는 이야기하지 않는다"고 말했다.
