Suicide Girl

A teenager hanged herself after allegedly being bullied by pupils for being ``too pretty,'' Metro reported on Thursday.

Blonde haired Poppy Bracey, 13, was bombarded by crank calls from jealous youngsters saying she should join a model agency for ``ugly people.'' She was found dead in her bedroom last week after returning to her foster home from classes at the 1,000-pupil Lowton High School, Greater Manchester.

She had become so depressed she took a knife into school, saying she was planning to self harm, but it was found by teachers and Poppy was sent home.

Her mother, Aileen Kelly, 42, of Wigan, said: ``Despite Poppy being in foster care, I spoke to her three times a day and I saw her once a week. She was a clever girl and she had been getting good grades. But, about six months ago, it all began to go downhill. They would ring her late at night, saying they were from a model agency asking her if she wanted to join.''

Mrs. Kelly added: ``My daughter didn't think a lot of herself but she really was beautiful.'' An investigation has been launched by Wigan Council's children's services department.

`예쁘다'고 왕따 당해 자살

한 영국 십대 소녀가 "너무 예쁘다는" 이유로 동급생들에게 따돌림을 당해 목을 매 자살했다고 메트로지가 11일 보도했다.

금발의 소녀인 포피 브레이시 (13)를 질투하는 학생들은 '못난이'를 위한 모델 에이전시에 들어오지 않겠냐는 이상한 전화로 브레이시를 괴롭혔다. 그 후 포피는 이달 초 학교에서 돌아와 침실에서 목숨을 끊었다.

브레이시는 최근 우울해하면서 칼을 들고 학교에 와 자해할 계획에 대해 말했던 것으로전해졌다. 이에 대해 알게 된 담당 교사는 브레이시를 집으로 돌려보냈다.

브레이시의 엄마는 "그녀는 총명한 아이였어요. 그런데 6개월 전부터 아이가 활기가 없고, 모델 에이전시라고 밝힌 전화가 밤 늦게까지 오곤 했다"고 말했다.

또 그녀는 이어서 "내 딸은 자신에 대해 그렇게 생각을 하지 않았지만, 정말 예쁜 아이였다"고 언급했다. 이 사건에 대한 수사는 현재 진행 중에 있다.
