Doosan Bears player Min Byung-heon has confessed to throwing a baseball at NC Dinos pitcher Eric Hacker during a

bench-clearing on Wednesday

.

Min said through a team spokesperson that he raised his hands when umpires asked who threw the ball but teammate Jang Min-seok, the first to bolt off the bench, received the penalty.

“After the match, I felt uncomfortable to see my teammate suffering the penalty for my misconduct,” Min was quoted as saying. “I shouldn’t have thrown the ball. It was inappropriate as a baseball player. I apologize to baseball fans.”

In the seventh inning of the Korean Baseball Organization League match at Masan Stadium in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, Hacker put out Bears hitter Oh Jae-won after taking his grounder. Then, Hacker said something to Oh and the two had to be separated. Both benches cleared and a shouting match ensued. Replays show that the trouble escalated when the ball was thrown across the field, narrowly missing Hacker.
