The golf doctor

Should you wear a golf glove?

You may have noticed that when your hands are soaked your fingers wrinkle. Wikipedia speculates, "Some researchers have proposed that this wrinkling response may have imparted an evolutionary benefit by providing improved traction in wet conditions."

This wrinkling reaction may have an "evolutionary benefit," but in my experience, it also has a golf benefit. Here's my rule of thumb: When the water comes from the inside of the glove in the form of perspiration, the glove works well. But when moisture comes from outside (such as rain), then a glove probably doesn't work as well as your own skin.
