The PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games Bid Committee opened an exhibition under the theme of “PyeongChang is Ready,” in Lausanne, Thursday (local time).
Current figure skating Olympic champion Kim Yu-na and bid committee chairman Cho Yang-ho visited the display to help promote the city’s bid. To show PyeongChang’s preparations, the bid committee designed the room combining high-technology and traditional Korean culture.
PyeongChang’s contenders Munich and Annecy also had the same size exhibition rooms open to IOC members and journalists for a day.
In PyeongChang’s room, a large LCD screen (2 meters by 3 meters) and a 50-inch touch plasma display panel (PDP) were installed for a detailed look at PyeongChang’s bid.
In the corner of the room was traditional Korean ski equipment and the visitors could taste traditional Korean sweet cookies “hangwa” and teas such as green tea at the bar.
The bid committee will return to Korea and prepare for the final presentation in Durban, South Africa, on July 6, the day the host city for 2018 Winter Games will be decided.
