PyeongChang submitted its application file to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Wednesday.
The file is a list of 25 questions related to nine fields.
The bidding committee focused its appeal to the IOC around three main points: that every venue can be reached within 30 minutes, most people in the nation support the bid and Asia has recently been gaining momentum in winter sports.
Each applicant has to submit an application file to the IOC by March 15 at which point the Olympic governing body will name the official nominees in late June.
However, as the county, 180 kilometers east of Seoul, in Gangwon Province, is battling with just two other candidates - Munich, Germany and Annecy, France - for the right to host the Winter Olympics in 2018, all three are reportedly likely to be named as finalists.
After the nomination, the IOC will conduct an on-site inspection next February and select the host for the Games on July 6 of the same year in Durban, South Africa.
