South Korea will play a friendly match against Cote d'Ivoire on March 3 in preparation for the South Africa World Cup, the Korea Football Association (KFA) said Sunday.

Although a venue has not been decided yet, a European country is likely to host the match.

As South Korea, drawn with Argentina, Greece and Nigeria in Group B, is scheduled to meet the Super Eagles in its final qualifier on June 23 in Durban, the KFA has been in negotiations with African sides, such as Cameroon, Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire.

Cote d'Ivoire has reached the quadrennial event for the second straight time after finishing first in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) qualifying Group E.

The 16th-ranked country, led by Chelsea striking duo Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, has never faced South Korea.

The African team is drawn in Group G with Brazil, Portugal and North Korea, which has been dubbed this tournament's ``Group of Death.''
