Kim Wins Title for 7th Consecutive Time

World champion Kim Yu-na has won her seventh consecutive ISU Grand Prix title as she earned 111.70 points for a total of 187.98 points, despite losing the free skate Sunday to American Rachael Flatt, reports said. Flatt came second with 174.91 points.

Kim failed to record another world record, breaking the 210.03 she set earlier as she made two major mistakes, including a fall on the triple flip ? the one element on which she has struggled at times, in the women’s singles division of the Skate America figure skating championships in Lake Placid, New York.

But the mistakes left enough of an opening for Flatt, the U.S. runner-up last January, to take the free program 116.11 points to 111.70. Kim won 76.28 points in the previous day’s short program, while Flatt gained 58.80.

Julia Sebestyen of Hungary finished third.

세계 챔피온 김연아는 일요일 미국출신 레이첼 플랫에게 프리스케이팅에서 졌는데도 불구하고 111.70점을 획득 총 187.98 점으로 국제 빙상연맹 그랑프리 7회 연속 우승을 차지했다고 외신은 전했다. 플랫은 174.91점으로 2위를 차지했다.

이 날 뉴욕주 레이크 플래시드에서 벌어진 스케이트 아메리카 피겨 스케이팅 여자 싱글에서 김선수는 평소 어려움을 겪곤 했던 요소인 트리플 플립에서 넘어지는 등 두 번에 걸친 중요한 실수로 자신이 이전에 세운기록 210.03점을 깨는데 실패했다.

그러나 이 날 프리 스케이팅에서 연아의 111.70을 앞선 116.11점을 얻은 지난 1월 2인자였던 플랫에 1위를 내주기에는 점수가 충분했다.

헝가리 출신 줄리아 세베스티언이 3위를 했다.
