Yang Yong-eun Earns PGA Card
Yang Yong-eun has claimed a spot on next season's PGA Tour.
The 36-year-old South Korean fired a six-under-par 66 in the final and sixth round at the Nicklaus Tournament course at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif. Monday, and finished at 19-under 413 to tie for 18th place at the PGA Tour qualifying tournament.
The native of Jeju Island won the HSBC Champions Tournament in 2006 after beating Tiger Woods.
The qualifying school earns golfers, who finish inside the top-25, plus ties, the tour cards and 28 players are qualified this year.
American Harrison Frazar led the field with a 32-under 400 and Notah Begay, a four-time PGA Tour winner and college teammate at Stanford with Woods, tied for 11th.
Meanwhile, other Korean candidates Lee Won-joon, Bae Sang-moon and Ted Oh failed to become card-carrying members of the tour.
