West Bromwich Albion midfielder Kim Do-heon is expected to miss six weeks because of a knee injury.

West Bromwich manager Tony Mowbray said on the team's Web site that Kim has a ligament injury in his left knee, which he suffered during a match against Middlesbrough FC Sunday.

``Kim needs to go and get a scan,'' Mowbray said on the West Bromwich Web site.

``The doctor is saying it is at least a medial knee ligament problem.

``We'll wait and see what the scan says and hope it is only medial ligament damage to keep him out for six weeks, and that it's not any worse than that.''

There are concerns the injury could prevent Kim from playing for the South Korean national team in a World Cup qualifying match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Oct. 15. Kim, who has 11 goals in 52 matches with the national team, produced an assist in his last World Cup qualifying match against North Korea.

Kim had 22 goals and 17 assists while playing seven years in the K-League with the Suwon BlueWings and Sungnam Chunma. He was rented by West Bromwich in January and received a two-year contract in May after Albion advanced to the Premier League.
