Choi Off Roster for Rehabilitation

Former Major Leaguer Choi Hee-seop of the Kia Tigers was left off the roster Tuesday to undergo a rehabilitation program.

The 28-year-old first baseman was diagnosed as having fractured a rib, which has sidelined him.

Choi, who played for five teams in the U.S. including the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers, plans to analyze Korean pitchers while rehabilitating himself.

He is expected to return to the Tigers' lineup after two or three weeks.

The first Korean fielder in the U.S. Major Leagues joined the Tigers on May 12.

He made his debut in the Korean baseball league on May 19 against the Doosan Bears but the next day, he injured himself when he collided with Bears second baseman Jung Won-suk.

The lefty has recorded 2-for-14 with a batting average of .143.
