The central bank said Thursday that it will issue commemorative coins to mark the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's 1910-45 colonial rule.
Two types of commemorative coins will be issued "to inspire patriotism and national pride, and to convey a message of unity and hope," as this year marks the 80th anniversary of Korea's independence, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).
The BOK will accept purchase applications from Aug. 11 through Sept. 2 and will begin distributing the coins in late October, it added.
