1 dead, 2 injured in apartment fire in Pohang

One person died and two others were severely injured in a fire presumed to have been started by a butane gas explosion in an apartment building in the southeastern city of Pohang on Monday, officials said.
The three are members of the same family, with the 60-year-old father found dead in a room in their apartment unit and his two sons, aged 21 and 24, respectively, suffering burns, according to police.
Police said they received a call that the father was attempting to start a fire by pouring out oil and igniting butane gas. The two sons are too badly injured to give an account of the incident, police said.
The fire began at 11:33 a.m., and the big flames were put out by 11:51 a.m.
About a dozen other people inhaled smoke from the fire, including one who was taken to a hospital. (Yonhap)
