7 teachers recognized for educational achievements

Seven schoolteachers won awards for their passion for teaching and contributions to education, the Shinil Educational Foundation announced, Monday. The foundation is the operator of Shinil Middle and High Schools as well as Seoul Cyber University.
Established in 2002 in memory of the late Lee Bong-soo, founder of the Shinil Educational Foundation, the Shinil Teachers' Award aims to honor teachers for their dedication.
The winners were selected through a strict screening process by an award committee consisting of prominent educational figures.
The screening criteria included improvements in teaching methods, career advancement education, school violence prevention, culture and arts education, global talent development, creative and convergent talent preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, AI-led education, multicultural education, guidance for North Korean defectors, volunteer activities, life safety education, personality development, special education, entertainment and physical education.
The recipients of the 16th Shinil Teachers' Award were each presented with a plaque and a cash prize of 10 million won ($7,239) during a ceremony held at Tchaikovsky Hall in Seoul Cyber University Shinil Campus, June 29.
This year’s awardees include Cho Jae-kwang of Jookhwa Elementary School, Ryu Myung-hee of Kangbuk Middle School, Choi Young-mi of Jipyeong High School, Hong Jeong-seon of Hanmin High School, Song Seong-ho of Hanbitnuri High School, Lee Kyung-seon of Seoul National School for the Deaf and Seon Hyeon-seok of Yonsei University Rehabilitation School.
