A large sinkhole has opened up in the middle of a road in Goyang, swallowing the pavement and disrupting construction work nearby.
A big chunk of the roadway near the Almi Park in Baekseok-dong collapsed on Sunday around 2:30 p.m., leaving a hole five meters wide and one meter deep, according to city government officials.
It was the fourth sinkhole in the area after three others appeared in 2017.
No casualties were reported.
Officials immediately blocked the road. They said construction of a 15-story complex next to the hole might have been the cause.
