A minor 2.3-magnitude earthquake rattled the southeastern city of Gyeongju early Tuesday. There were no reports of damage or casualties.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), the quake happened at 5:53 a.m. about nine kilometers south of the city, at a depth of 16 kilometers. It was believed to be an aftershock of the 5.8-magnitude quake that struck Gyeongju on Sept. 12, 2016, KMA officials said.
“Sensitive people felt the tremor,” a KMA official said. “We received several phone calls asking about this.”
