Eight people have been injured in a fire that engulfed a construction site in Daejeon on Friday afternoon.
Hundreds of firefighters were battling to extinguish the blaze. No further details were immediately available.
According to fire authorities, the building, in Seogu, a Daejeon district, went up in flames at 3:32 p.m. Multiple explosions were heard, which prompted people living nearby to flee, according to witnesses.
Daejeon fire authorities declared a state of emergency, sending hundreds of firefighters to the site.
The building ― two underground stories and three above ground ― was set to be completed by December.
