Typhoon Lan heading toward Korean Peninsula

A typhoon is moving toward the Korean Peninsula, and is expected to reach Jeju Island on Saturday.
Typhoon Lan, the 21st tropical storm this year, was 430 kilometers north-northwest of Palau at 9 a.m. Tuesday, moving west at 7 kp/h, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
The storm is classified as a “small and weak” but is gaining strength, a KMA official said.
The weather agency told sailors to stay informed of the typhoon’s direction.
