For the Sake of Vanishing Things

For the sake of vanishing things
I am vanishing into my
poorest smile.
The water I always used to drink
on some thirsty street
took even my tears and vanished into the ground
and the bird that used to fly up into my breast, dazzling,
took my broken wings and vanished into the sky.
Now, together with the horizon vanishing
beyond the horizon on lonely evening shores
even all my dreams of becoming a human being
vanish into dreams;
On a corner of Pimatkol alley
in dark Seoul,
only the starlight remains,
deeply pooled in the night footprints of the drunkards;
it alone does not vanish
but suddenly grows drunk.
In a world of transience and loss, what enduring happiness can there be, and where are we to find it if not in drunken starlight?
