Effects of meditation published in journal

A Korean neurology research team recently published a thesis about Korean- style meditation in an international science journal.

According to the Korean Institute of Brain Science, the June edition of “Neuroscience Letters” accepted the paper from the institute and Seoul National University (SNU) College of Medicine.

Funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the two institutes studied brainwave patterns for two years.

The paper showed that those who regularly meditate Korean-style were less stressed in most circumstances compared to those who didn’t.

Also, stress hormone levels of the meditation group showed better stress management skills and a faster capacity to become positive under the same stressful situations.

“It was concluded that meditation has positive effects on controlling stress,” said Kang Do-hyung of the SNU Medical Center.
