The presidential office welcomed the Constitutional Court's reinstatement of acting President Han Duck-soo on Monday, accusing the National Assembly of abusing its power to impeach government officials.
Han returned to the role of the acting president, nearly three months after being impeached over his alleged role in suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol's Dec. 3 declaration of martial law, among other reasons.
"Today's decision reaffirms that excessive impeachments by the National Assembly are reckless and malicious political offensives," the office said in a press notice.
"We hope that acting President Han's return to duty marks the beginning of a return to normal governance." (Yonhap)
