Prosecutors on Friday indicted a former commander of the Defense Intelligence Command (DIC) over his alleged involvement in President Yoon Suk Yeol's botched martial law bid last month.
The prosecution's special investigation team indicted retired Army Maj. Gen. Noh Sang-won with physical detention on insurrection and abuse of authority charges.
Noh is accused of discussing martial law operation plans with former and incumbent military intelligence officers at a burger franchise in Ansan, southwest of Seoul, two days before the plans were executed and on Dec. 3, the day of their imposition.
He is also suspected of ordering intelligence officers to take over the National Election Commission's headquarters and arrest and confine its employees to prove allegations the watchdog rigged the results of past parliamentary elections. (Yonhap)
