Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has met with U.S. Ambassador to Korea Philip Goldberg to explain the political situation following President Yoon Suk Yeol's short-lived martial law declaration, Han's office said Tuesday.

The meeting took place at the government complex in Seoul on Monday, two days after Yoon survived an opposition-led impeachment vote due to a lack of quorum despite public outcry.

During the meeting, Han explained that the Korean government is "doing its utmost efforts to manage state affairs based on the Constitution and laws," according to the office.

Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul had previously met Goldberg on Thursday and Sunday to share latest developments as part of efforts to contain the fallout from Yoon's brief martial law decree that shocked the nation and raised concerns from its allies, including the U.S.. (Yonhap)
