Lee Byeong-eon, a standing adviser to the Hankook Ilbo, is the new president and publisher of The Korea Times.

Born in 1955, Lee graduated from Seoul High School and the Seoul National University's College of Engineering.

Lee started his career with the former Daewoo Group in 1977, before earning his MBA at the University of Washington in 1984. He joined Dongwha Enterprises in 1995, and became president of the company in 2006.

He was named the top adviser for future strategy for the Hankook Ilbo, sister paper of The Korea Times, in 2015, and since then has served as a standing adviser.

The Korea Times, established in November 1950, is the nation's oldest and most influential English newspaper.
