First lady Kim Jung-sook performed singer Psy’s horse-riding dance in style.
President Moon Jae-in and Kim had a dinner with some 300 Koreans living in several Southeast Asian countries at the Makati Shangri-La Manila hotel in the Philippines Tuesday on the last stop during his visit to three Southeast Asian countries for regional forums.
The dinner was emceed by Ryan Bang, a Korean entertainer who is active in the Philippines and is also an honorary ambassador to promote the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.
Bang said, “I’m not good at singing and dancing, but I’ll dance in a wish for the success of PyeongChang Olympics.”
He then sang “PyeongChang Style,” which he performed by changing the lyrics of Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”
The atmosphere was one of elation as he performed the horse-riding dance, and everybody rose from their seats to clap and dance. And Kim, in traditional dress of hanbok, followed the dance moves, getting cheers from the crowd.
Seeing Moon beaming and clapping, Kim gestured for her husband to follow the dance. But Moon did not dance and kept clapping, smiling.
It seems the President was more impressed by the songs of singer Choi Baek-ho, a singer who is around Moon’s age. After Choi presented three songs, Moon went up to the stage to encourage an encore from him.
The invitees to the dinner included Koreans living in Southeast Asian nations, Filipino Korean War veterans and their families, Filipino workers who had worked in Korea and Philippine police officers who helped solve cases involving Korean victims.
