National Internet map launched
A special map is now available for people with low vision or color blindness as part of a national Internet map.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s National Geographic Information Institute launched E-map on a government-sponsored website Tuesday.
“We are launching a map that has been oriented to fit the generation of cutting-edge information and communications technology, and provide easily accessible and comprehensive information through our maps for the whole nation,” an official from the institute said.
The online map’s website (
) includes maps for a wide variety of audiences, including a special map for those with color blindness or low vision.
The institute has included information from 54 institutions and 3.6 million pieces of spatial data categorized into 330 types.
Emergency services are also included.
The institute said the online map would be launched as a smartphone app by next year.
Maps featuring other languages such as Chinese and Japanese would be launched with the app, an official said.
