Jelly has become the winner in the country’s snack market before White Day season.
In Korea, women present gifts to their men on Valentine’s Day, on Feb. 14, while the favor is returned to women on White Day, on March 14.
According to online retailer Auction, sales of jelly and marshmallow have gone up 213 percent this month from a year earlier. Sales of imported snacks grew by more than 100 percent in the same period.
“Consumers are falling in love with desserts and other popular imported snacks which offer rather unusual flavors,” an Auction spokesperson said. “With White Day approaching soon, those products are expected to see further improvement in sales figures.”
Products include Fruit by the Foot and Welch’s Jelly, all of which are imported from America.
