A taxi driver in Seoul fell unconscious during a street brawl with a passenger Friday, and died hours later, according to local police.
Footage from an onboard camera showed the driver suddenly collapse in the street after the two men grabbed each other by the collars. But they didn’t hit each other, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The driver, surnamed Lee, was taken to a nearby hospital, but died about four hours later.
The passenger said he was in a quarrel with the driver because he was rude. He told the police that the driver didn’t greet him when he got into the taxi and it made him irritable.
The passenger is now undergoing police questioning. Police said they haven’t decided whether or not they will charge him.
“We are investigating whether Kim suffered from a chronic disease,” a police officer said. “We need to wait for the autopsy result to determine the exact cause of his death.”
