Rapper MC Mong may have topped the charts with his new album “Miss Me or Diss Me,” but some netizens are making sure no one forgets about the singers controversial past.
The 36-year-old musician, whose real name is Shin Dong-hyun, released the album on Monday, and its songs quickly climbed the charts.
However, online critics flooded the Internet with comments questioning the rapper’s military-dodging scandal in 2010.
Specific phrases, such as “The Torch of Red Hunt” and “March to Military Demarcation Line,” began trending online. The phrases are titles of popular songs sung in the military, and reinforce Shin’s military scandal.
Shin was widely criticized over allegations that he underwent surgery to avoid the service. The controversy led him to stand before the court.
The court cleared him of the charges surrounding the surgery, but sentenced him for attempts to dodge the service.
A few singers have welcomed Shin’s comeback over social media, but the posts made them targets for Shin’s haters as well.
Shin debuted in 1988 as a member of hip hop band People Crew.
