For some single people, Chuseok can be a rather painful time because relatives inevitably ask the dreaded question: “When are you going to get married?”
The familial pressure is apparently translating to big business for dating services.
Dating service provider Ium said recently that the number of new users of its dating app jumped five-fold during this year’s Chuseok holidays.
Singles who have been pressured to marry are reportedly looking more towards dating apps these days than blind dates, which has long been a popular method for meeting romantic partners.
