A criminal caught after leaving evidence behind during bathroom stop

A burglar who stole more than 50 million won over two years was arrested by police who tracked him down thanks to the evidence he left behind when he did not flush during a bathroom visit, reported News1 Tuesday.

The suspect, surnamed Park, 39, stole money late at night and in the early morning from several restaurants and bars, stealing an accumulated 5,390,000 won from January 2013 to early August of this year, the police said.

However, in July found Park’s excrement that he left in a bathroom he left without flushing while investigating a restaurant theft case. The police sent the sample collected to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation for DNA analysis, and was eventually able to locate and capture the alleged criminal.

The police said that Park had been homeless for the past three years and started to steal money when he lacked the daily necessities for living.
