Policeman replaces child's stolen birthday present

When a heartless burglar stole a child’s birthday present, police officer Derek Pratico came to the rescue with a replacement present, a cake, and a gift voucher for the boy’s mother, the Huffington Post reported on Tuesday.
Two months ago, a burglar broke into the mother’s car in Jacksonville, Florida, stealing the birthday gift. The mother was upset not only because her car was ransacked but because she could not afford to replace her son’s gift.
After the incident, Pratico returned to the scene with a new birthday present, a cake, and a $100 gift card for the mother. He bought the gifts himself.
“I believe children deserve presents on their birthday,” said Pratico. “That’s just the way I was raised.”
