Sewol tragedy spawns illicit betting grounds

Police are tightening search for illegal online betting houses which scathe downtrodden sentiments caused by the tragic Sewol accident.

Illegal gambling websites scathing downtrodden sentiments caused by the tragic Sewol accident are putting national police on alert, according to Munhwa Ilbo Friday.
The websites, as some online posts claim they witnessed managed under an online sports lottery Toto, incite players to guess correct numbers of victims of the Sewol tragedy confirmed as of a random timeline.
The rule goes as players should choose “high” if they think there will be more victims than a referential number of anticipated victims, and “low” when there will be less.
The National Police Agency is presently scouring to locate the websites. The report said the agency has distributed a letter of notification requesting a tighter online monitoring for cracking down the websites throughout governmental agencies, including The National Gambling Control Commission.
As a possible presence of the illicit betting grounds loomed, some citizens expressed rage, cursing those responsible and demanding punishment for using people’s lives to make easy money.
