An airline industry remains intact in terms of booking from the Sewol tragedy, which killed off almost entire reservations for domestic flights and cruises.

With the Sewol ferry tragedy highlighting when a sea travel goes horribly wrong, the aftermath has in turn brought a boon to the air travel industry, Newsis said Wednesday.
The industry said while domestic flights and cruises saw deadly volumes of cancellation after the tragedy broke out, international travels rarely recorded such travesty.
The report cited Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, who said almost entire school trip itineraries booked for April have been canceled, and the same is likely to happen for May as well. But they pointed out the declining swirl has left reservations for international flights almost intact.
According to travel agency Mode Tour, 15 percent of cruises booked between last Wednesday, when the tragedy occurred, and Tuesday afternoon were cancelled, which accounts for some 1,700 passengers from April to June.
The international travel cancellation rate, on the other hand, was less than 1 percent.
The agency’s staff said most of the cancellations are happening in domestic travels.
