Ahn's memorial hall in Harbin

The opening ceremony for a memorial hall to the late independence fighter Ahn Jung-geun (1879-1910) takes place near Harbin Station in northeast China, Sunday, with local officials participating. China built the memorial at the request of President Park Geun-hye, during a summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, to commemorate Ahn on the site where he assassinated Japanese Governor of Korea Hirobumi Ito in 1909.
