Co-habitation okay with most young people

How much of the Korean social perspectives have changed over the past two years?

“There is nothing wrong with international marriages.”

“House chores should be shared between husbands and wives.” These are comments from the younger generation of Koreans.

More of the younger people are drinking while less are devoted to educating their young children.

Same goes for supporting parents but a good think is that less of the younger generation is smoking.

With rapid advancements in science and technology, the term “generational gap” no longer has any significant meaning.

Even those aged a few years apart think very differently.

The mentality of the general population from social perspectives to what people care about is changing quickly.

According to the National Statistical Office, a study of 17,424 households, held every two years, reveal that there have been drastic changes in the areas of household management, education, health, safety and the environment.

One of the outstanding findings was that 45.9 percent of those in their 20s and 30s felt that it was okay to live together before entering into matrimony.

This is a significant increase from the 40.5 percent of two years ago.

At the same time, 64.4 percent of the respondents said they would not avoid international marriages.

However, only 22.4 percent of the younger generation thought is was alright to have children out of wedlock, which is still a slight increase from the20.6 percent a couple of years ago.
