Naked Sled Race

More than 14,000 spectators turned out to watch a topless tobogganing tournament in Germany, according to Current.com.

A total of 30 male and female competitors braved the elements to race along a 100 meter track in the event in Braunlage.

Christian Schmidt, 26, won the event, while a 70-year-old man got the biggest round of applause for stripping down to his long johns.

Earlier, Germany's first ever topless tobogganing championships at another town nearly didn't go ahead after a mayor said he was "offended" by the spectacle.

The ladies, competing for cash prizes of nearly ?300 each, were required only to wear a hard helmet and footwear for the race at Oberwiesenthal near the border with the Czech Republic.

다른 지역에서 예정돼 있던 독일 최초의 누드 썰매대회는 시장의 반대로 개최되지 못했다.

체코 공화국과의 국경 근처 오베르비센탈에서 열릴 예정이던 이 대회에서는 300파운드 상금을 놓고 참가한 여성 선수들이 헬멧과 신발 만을 신을 수 있도록 규정돼 있었다.
