Man Wakes From Coma

A British man has woken from a coma after his wife whispered into his ear news he was now a grandfather.

David Russell, 60, was fighting for his life in hospital after falling nearly 4 meters onto concrete from a roof on his farm in Gloucestershire, southern England, the Daily Mail reported.

He slipped into a coma after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain. When Russell failed to wake after two weeks, doctors told his wife Helen he may not survive and, if he did, he was likely to have severe brain damage.

However, days later, after the couple's first grandchild Edie was born, Mrs. Russell whispered into her husband's ear: "Come on granddad you have got to wake up now." To the amazement of doctors and Mrs. Russell her husband stirred from his coma.

Mrs. Russell said her husband, who is now expected to make a full recovery, was "incredibly proud" of becoming a grandfather.

혼수상태에 빠진 영국의 한 남자가 할아버지가 되었다는 아내의 속삭임에 깨어났다.

데이빗 러셀 (60)은 지붕에서 4 미터 아래 콘크리트 바닥으로 떨어져 병원에서 생사를 다투고 있었다고 데일리 메일이 보도했다.

러셀은 뇌의 혈전을 제거하기 위한 수술 이후 혼수상태에서 깨어나지 못했다. 2주 동안 그가 깨어나지 못하자, 담당 의사는 아내 헬렌에게 남편은 살아나기 어려우며, 또한 깨어난다 해도 심각한 뇌손상을 입을 것이라고 진단했다.

그러나 며칠 후 두 사람의 첫 손주 에디가 태어났고, 부인은 남편에게"할아버지, 이제 일어나 보세요"라고 말하자 놀랍게도 러셀이 혼수상태에서 깨어났다.

부인은 이제 완전히 호전되고 있는 남편이 할아버지가 되는 것에 대해 "엄청나게 자랑스러워한다"고 전했다.
