Zuma Apologizes for Fathering Illegitimate Child
South African president Jacob Zuma has apologized for fathering a child with a woman who was not his wife but a daughter of his friend.
"I have over the past week taken time to consider and reflect on the issues relating to a relationship I had outside of wedlock,” President Zuma said in a statement Saturday, according to the Independent newspaper in London.
“It has put a lot of pressure on my family and my organization, the African National Congress(ANC),” the president said. “I deeply regret the pain that I have caused…”
On Feb. 3, Zuma admitted that he fathered a baby daughter from the daughter of a World Cup chief of the country.

제이콥 주마 남아프리카공화국(남아공) 대통령이 친구 딸과의 혼외정사, 사생아 출산에 대해 공식 사과했다.
주마 대통령은 2월 6일(현지시간) 성명을 통해 "지난 한 주 동안 혼외 관계에 대해 깊이 생각했다"고 털어놨다.
주마 대통령은 "이 사실이 가족과 아프리카민족회의(ANC) 등에 큰 압박을 가하는 요인으로 작용했다는 것을 인정한다"며 "고통을 끼쳐 깊이 후회한다"고 밝혔다. 주마 대통령은 2월 3일 어빈 코자 남아공월드컵 조직위원회 회장 딸과의 사이에서 딸을 출산했음을 인정한 바 있다.
