BTS' Suga apologizes for drunk-driving electric scooter

Suga of K-pop supergroup BTS was questioned for allegedly driving an electric scooter under the influence, police said Wednesday.
"I feel heavy hearted and sorry for disappointing you," the rapper said on K-pop fan community platform Weverse.
"Although no one was injured and no property was damaged, I take full responsibility for my actions, which cannot be excused. I sincerely apologize to everyone."
He was booked and questioned at the Yongsan Police Station on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.
"After drinking at a dinner meeting, I was returning on an electric kick scooter," Suga said. "Due to my careless assumption that the distance was short and my failure to recognize that operating an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol is prohibited, I violated traffic laws."
"I fell while parking the kick scooter in front of my house. And then there was a police officer nearby, I was given a breathalyzer test and subsequently had my license revoked and was fined," he explained.
The test revealed that Suga's blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting license cancellation, which is 0.08 percent or higher, according to the police.
The artist was allowed to return home after completing the police investigation.
Suga has been serving as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service in Korea, since March. He is scheduled to be discharged in June next year. (Yonhap)
