The police have booked 15 members of Ilbe Storage, an extreme right-wing website, for posting sexually explicit photos of women without their consent under the name of “proof shot of girlfriend.”

The Cyber Bureau of Korean National Police Agency said on Wednesday it is investigating the 15 without detention on suspicion of violating the special act on sexual assault.

Police said the offenders were college students or workers. Of the 15, eight were in their 20s, six in their 30s and one in his 40s.

The police finished questioning 13 of them, and six confessed they posted photos of their actual girlfriends, while the rest posted photos they found online. They told police they uploaded the photos to get more attention on the website and a membership upgrade. The police will investigate the remaining two soon.

A photo of a sleeping woman in a state of undress appeared on the website on Nov. 19, with the uploader claiming it was his girlfriend. Similar posts followed as if it was a competition between members.
