The Supreme Court upheld a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence Thursday for a man who blackmailed Samsung Electronics with sex videos of its chairman Lee Kun-hee.
The top court upheld the Seoul High Court's ruling that sentenced the former CJ CheilJedang official, surnamed Seon, 57, to four years and six months in prison for extorting 900 million won ($840,000) from Samsung in 2013 by threatening to release the videos.
In the videos, a man who appears to be the business tycoon offers money to women after receiving sexual services.
Seon and three other people recorded the videos between December 2011 and June 2013 at Lee's private residence in southern Seoul. The videos were disclosed to the public in 2016 with a report by online news outlet Newstapa.
