Elderly man stabs Vietnamese daughter-in-law to death

Police have charged a man in his 80s with murdering his Vietnamese daughter-in-law for not giving him money and treating him without respect.

On June 2, the man, identified by his surname Kim, 83, stabbed the woman in the neck and back while she was sleeping, according to the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors’ Office on Monday.

The attack happened at around 4 a.m. in an apartment in Seongbuk-gu, northern Seoul, where they lived.

The victim’s husband, 48, found her body the same day. Police arrested the father-in-law at the scene.

Kim reportedly told police his daughter-in-law, who migrated to Korea 10 years ago, and his son treated him badly.
