Speculation abounds over the wardrobe choice by former President Park Geun-hye, Tuesday, as she yet again chose the same navy coat she has worn to most public appearances since the influence-peddling scandal erupted late last year.
Park wore a navy coat, a pair of black pants and black dress shoes and had her hair done in an up-style she usually wears, when she appeared before the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office (SCDPO) at 9:23 a.m. She was to undergo questioning over the corruption scandal that led to her impeachment.
It is believed the navy coat communicates her “resolute” state of mind as she wore it on Jan. 23 when she visited Seoul National Cemetery on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. The visit was in the midst of the then-ongoing Constitutional Court proceedings of her impeachment trial.
Park wore the coat on March 12 when she left Cheong Wa Dae to return to her private residence in Samseong-dong, two days after the Constitutional Court removed her from office on May 10.
Prior to the scandal, Park wore outfits with various colors and designs mostly with the help of her confidant Choi Soon-sil, a central figure in the scandal.
Some watchers claim Park wearing the same coat speaks to her state of mind before entering into “battle” with the prosecution over what is likely to be a grueling and intensive questioning. However, others caution against such an assessment, saying reading too much into a mere outfit is media sensationalism.
