The National Gugak Center and tbs eFM will present “Seven Colors of Gugak,” a traditional music concert, at the National Gugak Center in Seocho District, southern Seoul, Dec.1.

Hosted by Steve Hatherly, Punita Bajaj and Amy Aleha, the acts will include performers from the National Gugak Center, the Court Music Orchestra, the Folk Music Group and Dance Theater.

Other performers will include Pansori singer Park Ae-ri, fusion gugak band The NEQ, traditional Korean instrumental quartet Sain Nori and special performances by tbs eFM hosts Kim Jo-han of the “Ministry of K-Pop” and Punita Bajaj of “The Wake Up Crew.”

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free but tickets must be reserved.

Up to four tickets will be allotted per person and guests must be at least 15 years of age.

Korean drawing class available Friday

The Itaewon Global Village Center will provide a Korean drawing class at the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan, Seoul, Friday.

Participants will learn about Korean drawing methods and create their own artwork.

“In the class, there will be an explanation on Korean drawing and how to do this,” the center said. “After that, participants will draw a picture with traditional Korean paint on a wooden board.”

The class is from 10 a.m. to noon and there is a 4,000 won participation fee.

Registration is done in person at the center or via e-mail.

To get to the Itaewon Global Village Center to register in person, leave exit 2 of Itaewon Station. Walk straight for 200 meters and look for the Hannam Building which has a 7-Eleven convenience store on the first floor. The center is on the 5th floor of that building.

Global center seeks hospital volunteers

The Yeoksam Global Village Center seeks volunteers to help prepare medical kits, clean facilities and spend time with young patients at St. Mary’s Hospital in Seocho District, southern Seoul.

Hospital staff assigns tasks to volunteers based on experience or preference and hospital needs. No prior experience is required.

Participation is limited to 40 people. Organizers ask volunteers to indicate any past experience in this program or any interest in music, magic, arts or other recreational activities to share with children.

The group will meet at 9:40 a.m. at Cafe Angelo on the main floor of Gangnam St. Mary’s Hospital.

The volunteer session will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

To get there leave exit 4 of Express Bus Terminal Station on Seoul Metro Lines 3, 7 and 9. The hospital is a five-minute walk from the station.
