An evening of live music to raise funds for children’s library books will be held at Cub Freebird 2 in Seoul on Aug 8.

The Samdong International and Seoul Rotary Club-Young Leaders Club will join forces with Korea FM.net to bring four local acts for the fundraiser for the children of Xienkhouang-Samdong Friendship School in Saylome Village, Laos.

Billed as “the hottest bash of the summer, all in the name of books, all proceeds from the ticket sales of this event will go toward providing these young minds with the knowledge, imagination and world-opening experiences found within the pages of a book,” the event organizer said in the invitation.

Samdong International is a Korea-based NGO launched to provide the world community with relief, aid and social welfare cooperation.

“Since 2008, we have been supporting people in need across the globe in countries such as Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Mongolia,” the organizer said.

“Our support takes different forms to answer each need, and we provide help in areas such as clean water initiatives and well construction, school construction and education, sustainable food projects, green initiatives, livestock and agricultural management, health and medical services, and active understanding and collaboration through cultural exchange.”

In celebration of books, guests are asked to come dressed as their favorite literary character. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed and most imaginative costumes.

The event starts at 9:30 p.m. and will also feature a raffle with fantastic prizes and a delicious homemade baked goods sale.

Music acts featured include Yes YES Michael Ersing, Les Sales, Magna Fall, Post Panic and Deethrobs, the hottest DJ’s in the city including David Eps, Ian L, and Mykian.

Tickets are 10,000 won in advance or 15,000 won at the door. For advance sales information email
