Exhibition features 100 African art works

An exhibition featuring over 20 artists titled “Africa Now: Political Patterns” at the Seoul Museum of Art will continue through Feb. 15.

The works serve as a meeting point for Africa’s political situation.

“Being the first in Korea to introduce contemporary African art, it also sets out to represent post-colonial, diaspora, and non-Western art by presenting the current states of African art," states the program.

The exhibition presents a wide array of over 100 works of varied artists, including African immigrants residing in Europe or North America, such as Yinka Shonibare and Chris Ofili, to those who address nationalism or religious conflicts in post-colonial Africa, such as Goncalo Mabunda and Rachid Koraichi.

To get there take Subway Lines 1 or 2 to City Hall and leave via the Chongdong Theater or Deoksu Palace exit and walk toward Dunkin’ Donuts. Turn right just after you pass the entrance to the palace. The museum is about five minutes walk on the left, just past the City Hall Annex Building.

Opening hours from Tuesday to Friday are 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and holidays 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and closed Mondays. Last admission is one hour before closing
