Dozens of flights have been canceled or delayed on the southern resort island of Jeju due to strong winds on Tuesday.
According to Korea Airports Corporation, the operator of Jeju International Airport, 11 arrivals and 11 departures were canceled, and 33 arrivals and 23 departures were postponed due to adverse weather conditions as of 3 p.m.
A strong wind warning has been issued for the island, with a wind shear advisory also in effect at the airport, where hundreds of people are stranded. The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), the national weather agency, said gusty winds have been blowing into the area at a velocity of up to 26.3 meters per second.
Meanwhile, a ferry scheduled to depart from Jeju in the morning for the neighboring Wan Island was canceled, and so was another one bound for Jindo later that day.
The KMA forecasts that high winds will continue until tomorrow morning, causing high tides around the island.
