Do not go gentle into that good night, old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light, though wise men at their end know dark is right, because their words had forked no lightning they, do not go gentle into that good night.

Seoul Cyber University hosted the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) Semi-Annual Meeting and 60th Anniversary, bringing together more than 150 higher education leaders from around the world to discuss innovation and collaboration in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
Seoul Cyber University President Lee Eun-joo said the event served as an opportunity for global academic leaders to share perspectives on reimagining university models in the AI era and explore strategies for advancing global education.
“Discussions at the seminar centered on how higher education can adapt to rapid technological change,” Lee said during an interview with The Korea Times. “Participants examined topics such as the reconstruction of university systems in the age of AI and the future of global collaboration in education.”
Seoul Cyber University has maintained a long-standing relationship with IAUP, actively participating in association activities and fostering cooperation with member universities through memorandums of understanding and academic exchanges.
“Our university has continuously contributed to the advancement of higher education in Korea through close partnerships with IAUP and its member institutions,” Lee said.
Addressing the growing debate over the relevance of traditional higher education in the AI era, Lee emphasized that universities must play an even greater role in preparing students to effectively use and understand AI technologies.
“Rather than diminishing the role of universities, AI reinforces the need for institutions to nurture talent capable of leveraging technology,” Lee said. “As a leading AI-focused university, Seoul Cyber University is integrating AI not only into academic programs but also into its teaching and learning methods.”
Reflecting on IAUP’s 60-year legacy, Lee expressed her hope that the milestone will encourage renewed global dialogue on the future of higher education.
“This event was a meaningful gathering for higher education leaders to share outcomes, insights and visions for the future,” Lee said. “We hope to continue building stronger international cooperation as universities navigate the changes brought by AI.”
